Kids love treasure hunts. Make reading fun with rhyming couplet clues. One clue leads to another location with another clue until eventually a location has a prize. The prize could be a treat, small toy, or even a nice hand drawn card.
Here are some samples of clues I have used:
To give my little game a try
Look at the towels with which you dryYou are doing great following my map
Go to where Mama takes a napGo quietly without a peep
And look in the place where you sleepYou are almost to your dessert
Where would you go to get a shirt?I think this clue will really suit
Since you’ll find it with your yellow fruitYou’ll find a clue right under your nose
If you look where Mama dries the clothesYou bet this paper will really please
If you look where you make copies
