Our First Baby Shower

Our first baby shower was very nice. It was given by Bill and Carol and Christina. Carol had decorated everything with a baby flare and even had Daniel’s name spelled out in blocks. Christina had fantastic food such as lasagna and cheesecake.
Christina gave Daniel a little hand knitted bunny and a hand knitted cabled cardigan with hood. She also gave him these cute outfits and socks.

Now, lots of clothes…

If I could have just delayed my clothing panic by a few weeks I would have been alright. Papa and I went to lunch with Papa’s Dad and Linda. After lunch they gave us this huge basket full of the cutest little clothes for Daniel. On top was the softest blanket ever with his name on it. There are tons of outfits, and even a cap, socks and booties. The basket is lined and perfect for using in the nursary. Linda added lace around the outside of it, and it is just beautiful.

I can’t have a naked baby.

I can’t really explain it, but pregnancy does stuff to your brain that just causes you to do things at certain times.  My first big panic was that we needed to get a car seat so that after Daniel was born, we could actually bring him home.  After fulfilling that pregnancy inspired panic, my next thought was, he has no clothes.  I knew we were going to have showers and such and that clothes would come, but not knowing when Daniel would come in conjunction with the showers, that just didn’t give me adequate comfort.  So this led to my treck to Wal-mart to get some basic, basic clothing.

And Pop and Mimi buy even more stuff…

These are natural toys that are wood and non-toxic paint.  The duckie is real rubber and the little feeding spoon is wood.  These came from this website for natural toys.

Mama’s been crocheting

In Mama’s spare time (yeah, right!) she’s been working on some interesting toys for Daniel.  These are (as Papa keeps reminding me) not to scale fruits.  If they were to scale, they wouldn’t be fun.

Mama got some award money

Mama got $100 of award money from work in the form of gift certificates.  We put some more money with that and bought Daniel his stoller and infant car seat set.

Pop and Mimi keep buying stuff…

Pop and Mimi can’t resist buying stuff.  They got Daniel a Pack’n’Play.

And these cute little booties.  You have to see them from the front and back to get the full effect.

Christmas Gifts for Daniel

Daniel received two Christmas gifts.  Cousin Rachel gave him four gowns and two footie sleepers in a couple of sizes.  We have the smaller ones ready to use.

Larry and Brenda bibs

Uncle Larry and Aunt Brenda gave Daniel these neat bibs that have all the big firsts on them.  There are three of them that have an event on both the front and back.

Daniel’s First Gift

Daniel’s first gift is from Edith who works with Pop.  She gave Daniel this little Titans Bib.  A while later she gave him the Titans hooded towel.

Mammy Quilt

Mammy made a beautiful quilt for Daniel.  She wasn’t satisfied with it when she finished it, but Papa and I love it and think it is absolutely perfect.
