Lullabies

When Daniel is feeling fussy, I have had really good luck with singing him lullabies to get him to nod off.  I’ve tried several out on him and the one he seems to like the most is Down in the Valley.  Here he is asleep on the couch after a few rounds of Down in the Valley.

On couch after Valley

Down in the Valley

Down in the valley, valley so low
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
Hear the wind blow, dear, hear the wind blow
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow.

Roses love sunshine, violets love dew
Angels in heaven know I love you
Know I love you, dear, know I love you
Angels in heaven, know I love you.

Writing this letter, containing three lines
Answer my question, “Will you be mine?”
“Will you be mine, dear, will you be mine?”
Answer my question, “Will you be mine?”

Down in the valley, valley so low
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
Hear the wind blow, dear, hear the wind blow
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow.

Two week checkup

Daniel is growing.  He was 6 pounds 9 ounces at birth.  He was 6 pounds four days later.  Well, at his two week checkup they wanted him to have regained his birth weight.  He was 6 pounds 12.5 ounces today!  He was also longer.  He was 19 1/4 inches at birth and was 20 3/4 inches today.

This picture is due to a request from Mammy to see feet.  These feet came straight from dear old Papa.

Hiccups!

Little Daniel used to get the hiccups all the time when he was still in Mama’s belly, and things haven’t changed much now that he’s oot-n-aboot in the world (sorry, that was for Crazy Uncle Rob’s benefit… you know, the one in Canada). He doesn’t seem too bothered by them, but they are/can be amusing for the rest of us.

Family resemblance

So I finally got a good mug shot of Daniel that proves he’s kin to his maternal grandfather!

Daniel and Pipi - what a striking resemblance!

Rude boy

Papa didn’t teach his boy this’n. Yet.

The angel opens his eyes

Daniel finally let us get a semi-decent picture with his eyes open. I thought they were blue in the hospital (and they really look more blue in person), but now I’m not so sure. Papa has those same crazy gold flecks around his pupils, and it sort of throws off the color a bit.

Those beautiful eyes

More Papa time

Mama really does get to spend time with her boy, but she’s usually the only one who thinks to pick up the camera when something cute/embarassing/inappropriate is going on. Papa’s a complete idiot over Daniel, if that’s not obvious already…

Papa Time

Daniel enjoys his Papa time.

Not picky

Little Daniel is not at all picky about how he is held.  He’s happy just to hang out.
