Quotable Quotes – January 2011

Daniel is so busy these days that I don’t get as many pictures and videos as I used to. I do try to jot down some of the cute things he says. To make up for the lack of other things on the blog, I will start trying to post monthly recaps of his quips and stories. I will start at the beginning of this year and get caught up.

Daniel loves to learn. He asks questions about everything. And one way we help him learn about things he’s asking questions about is to show him You Tube videos of the topics he’s currently interested in. In January the hot topic was cooking. He would sit and watch cooking videos for up to an hour at a time.

January 7 – I just told Daniel he was cute and he replied “Yes, I am. I am smart boy.”

January 8 – Daniel was running up and down the hall and Papa was teasing him saying “He’s crazy. He’s crazy.” Daniel stops and says, “I’m not crazy. I’m just pretending.”

January 10 – Daniel looking out the window at the snow: “Don’t see anybody. Just snow.”

Daniel helps me prepare food and he’s actually quite good at it. January 18 he said, “Mama is great chef.” I told him he was a great chef. He replied, “Mama is great chef, too.”

Daniel has a very active imagination and sometimes he comes up with some wild stuff. January 20 he sits in his little rocking chair and is holding a book titled Christian Doctrine upside down. He says “Read this story book. Once upon a time.” Mutter, mutter, mutter. “The end.” He closes the book and says, “this about six mamas.”

January 22 – After presenting his Papa with several of Mama’s shoes and announcing “Here is Papa shoe” and being informed that this was in fact Mama’s shoe, he says “Where are Papa’s shoes?”

January 23 – Daniel woke from his nap worrying that the soup we worked on in the crock pot earlier needed more salt.

January 27 – Daniel wanted me to peel a sticker off the dining room table. While I’m carefully trying to do that he says, “That’s a tough nut.”

Visiting the Ducks

When Daniel and I were getting out of the car to visit the ducks today, they all ran up to meet us. At first Daniel was concerned about it. I told the ducks I was sorry I had not brought them any food. For the whole rest of the visit, any duck that showed Daniel any attention, he would crouch in front of it and in the most syrupy sweet voice say, “I am so sorry I didn’t bring you any food.”

I only had my phone with me, so these aren’t the best pictures, but thought I would share them anyway.

Daniel also walked around a dirt filled well.

The First 2011 Zoo Trip

Daniel went to the zoo today with Poppy and Mama. Daniel rode in style in his red wagon.

Daniel enjoyed watching all the little waterfalls that are at the zoo as much as any of the animals. He also liked the fish.

Daniel saw a goat up close and personal.

Morning at the playground

This is one of Daniel’s favorite playgrounds. This morning he played here for a long time. When we first arrived, we were the only ones there, so had the whole place to ourselves.

These mazes are really neat and Daniel has a lot of fun in them. He likes these swinging stairs.

He’s having so much fun in the mazes he can’t help but sing Old MacDonald very loud.

Sometimes it’s fun to play on a bench that goes around a tree, although it wasn’t really part of the play equipment.
